Intro to Life Drawing/Painting*

An introductory course  in life drawing/painting open to a variety of techniques such as  pencil, charcoal, pastels and water soluble paints. Subject matter can include still lives, figure studies (using photo reference and live, nude models) and portraiture, stressing compositional design, successful modeling (of light and shadow), accurate proportions and facial features while allowing for a range of personal styles from tight realism to abstraction.
Ideal for college admissions portfolio requirements. Nude model fee as well as most supplies are included.                                                                                                                                                                        * Because of the use of a nude model, students under the age of 18 MUST submit a signed parental/guardian permission slip by the first session.

Wednesday: 7:15 – 9:45PM Twelve sessions: $500.

Materials

Students will be required to have the following supplies the first day of class. If necessary, additional materials will be outlined by the instructor and required at various times during the semester. The instructor will distribute additional supplies not listed. It is highly recommended that each student purchases and utilizes a portfolio case that is waterproof, stiff and large enough to store all drawing pads and finished art works.

  • one 18′ x 24′ rough newsprint pad
  • four 6B and two 2B drawing pencils
  • a kneaded eraser
  • a smock

*Because of the use of nude models in this class, each student below the age of 18 will require the written permission of a parent or guardian.

A non-refundable, one time registration/supply fee of $25. per student is required. Applicant’s position in a class will be secured upon the full payment of the tuition and the one time registration/supply fee.
All tuition and fees must be received prior to the first day of class.
